Laura Davis-Perry was born and raised in Ansonville, NC. She received her formal education in Anson County and furthered her studies to receive a degree in Criminal Justice, Christian Counseling, and Social Work. She is the daughter of Mable McRae who currently resides in Albemarle, NC. For the past 12 years she has resided in Columbus, Ohio with her family, devoted husband Charles (Chuck), son Brandon and daughter Malayah.
Laura is employed at Nationwide Children's Hospital as a Social Worker on the Behavioral Health School Based Team, providing service to families impacted by various types of abuse and mental illness. In May 2014 she received a Master’s Degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University, which equipped her to become an Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.
Laura received the call to ministry in August 2008, and availed herself to study to show herself approved for the work God has called her to do. She was ordained January 2011 at the Worship Center of Central Ohio, under the Pastorate of Rev. David S. Carter.
The Present & The Future
Rev. Perry is the Lead Servant over the “Worship Hearts” Performing Arts Ministry at the Worship Center of Central Ohio, which includes dance, mime, flag and drama. She also serves on the Ministry Management Team, and Voices of Worship.
Rev. Perry is also currently utilizing the gifts God has blessed her with for writing and acting purposes. She currently writes and directs plays and musicals for various purposes in the Columbus, Ohio area. Rev. Perry was cast in the stage play Ready to Grow I and Ready to Grow II in 2015 and 2016. Rev. Perry's most recent (2017) body of work included the stage play "Love Knots."
Rev. Perry has also developed a character who engages in public speaking appearances for parties and various events. This character is a heartfelt compilation of the many seasoned women that have had input in the life of Rev. Perry during her development. The character is lovingly called “Mama Grace”. Ms. Grace is a source of wisdom with a comedic twist. She is available to impart her wisdom to others upon request for parties, religious events and other occasions.
Rev. Perry has been furthering her educational studies for the past two years pursuing a degree as a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) at Walden University. Rev Perry has completed the classwork component of the process and will soon begin the research portion of her Doctoral studies. Expected graduation date is 2018.
Rev. Perry finds comfort and strength in the word of God. Her favorite scripture is Isaiah 40:31“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not get weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
